The answer

8 months behind on bookkeeping

Eight months is the classic shape of this problem. The books were current in the spring, something busy happened in the summer, and it has been "next weekend" ever since. Nothing dramatic went wrong — the entries simply stopped, and now the pile is big enough to be frightening.

Once you cross six months a firm prices you in the full-year band: $1,500 to $3,500, three to eight weeks, discovery call first. Titan's public price for up to 12 months is $999 — $83.25 a month closed — and your first month is closed and tied out free, before you give us an email address or a dollar.

01 / Market rates

What a firm charges to close eight months behind.

The going US rates for a cleanup engagement starting from bank and card statements, for a business doing roughly 50 to 300 transactions a month. Quoted after a discovery call, in every case.

1 to 3 months behind

Typical quote$300 – $500
Timeline3 – 8 weeks

4 to 6 months behind

Typical quote$500 – $1,500
Timeline3 – 8 weeks

Twelve months behind

Typical quote$1,500 – $3,500
Timeline3 – 8 weeks

Two years or more

Typical quote$3,500 – $10,000+
Timeline3 – 8 weeks

At 8 months your quote comes from the row marked Up to twelve months behind: $1,500$3,500. Extra accounts add 20 to 40%, and image-only scanned statements are the single most expensive input in cleanup.

02 / The size of the job

What eight months actually is.

Statements to read
8 per account — 8 to 24 documents in a typical download
Transactions
400 at 50 a month, 1,600 at 200 a month, 4,000 at 500
Reconciliations
8 per account, each tied to the printed ending balance
Reports it produces
Eight monthly P&Ls, a year-to-date P&L, a balance sheet, a cash flow statement, a full ledger
By hand
30 to 60 hours, and the last third is the hardest: the transactions you no longer recognize

At 200 transactions a month, 8 months is roughly 1,600 lines to read, categorize and reconcile.

03 / What it is costing you

The clock on eight months.

Eight months behind means the current year is already a reconstruction job, and the year is not over yet.

  • Year end, four months out

Every month you wait adds a month to the same job. Eight becomes twelve in December, and twelve is the band where firms quote the top of $1,500 to $3,500.

  • 1099-NEC, due January 31

You cannot file contractor 1099s from a bank balance. You need a categorized ledger that tells you who you paid and how much, per payee, for the year — which is exactly what a closed set of months produces.

  • The extension you may already be on

If you extended a return, the extended deadline is September 15 for S-corps and partnerships and October 15 for individuals. Extensions extend the filing, not the payment, and a preparer cannot file either without books.

  • Vendor memory

Eight-month-old transactions are the ones nobody can identify. We do not ask you to — every uncertain line arrives as a short flag list with our best guess and two or three likely categories, cleared in one sitting.

Titan is not an accounting firm and does not give tax advice. The dates above are the ordinary federal calendar; your own filing obligations depend on your entity and your state, and a licensed CPA or preparer should review and sign the return.

Public, fixed, and payable on this page.

Eight months behind is covered by Catch-Up 12 at $999. Nothing is quoted, and the only thing that can move it is volume above 500 transactions a month, which is a published tier named before you pay.

06 / Questions

What owners at eight months behind ask.

I am 8 months behind on bookkeeping. What does it cost to fix?
A bookkeeping firm will quote you in the twelve-month band, roughly $1,500 to $3,500, after a discovery call, and deliver in three to eight weeks. Titan's public price covering up to 12 months is $999, or $83.25 per month closed, paid on the page. The first month is closed free either way, so you can see the quality before spending anything.
Why is your price the same for 8 months as for 12?
Because the table is public and priced in packages rather than by the hour, and Catch-Up 12 covers up to twelve months. If you are eight months behind you can either close eight and keep the remaining four for the months ahead, or send the last twelve and get a full year closed for the same $999. Most people send the year.
What do I need before I start?
Bank and card statements for the months you are behind, as PDFs or CSVs downloaded from your bank. No bank login, no accounting software, no receipts required — receipts help on flagged lines but are optional. If you can download eight PDFs, you have everything.
What if I do not know exactly how many months I am behind?
Start from the last month you trust and count forward. Pick the larger number if you are unsure: we count the months from the statements you actually send and name the package that covers them, so guessing high costs nothing.
