The answer
3 months behind on bookkeeping
Three months is a quarter. It is also the last point at which catching up is a small job — you still remember the vendors, the statements are still one download away, and no return has been filed on numbers you guessed at.
This is the one distance where a local bookkeeper can be cheaper than us: firms quote $300 to $500 for one to three months. We say so plainly. What you get here instead is the same day rather than three to eight weeks, no discovery call, and one month closed and tied out for free before you decide anything.

01 / Market rates
What a firm charges to close three months behind.
The going US rates for a cleanup engagement starting from bank and card statements, for a business doing roughly 50 to 300 transactions a month. Quoted after a discovery call, in every case.

At 3 months your quote comes from the row marked 1 to 3 months behind: $300 – $500. Extra accounts add 20 to 40%, and image-only scanned statements are the single most expensive input in cleanup.
02 / The size of the job
What three months actually is.
- Statements to read
- 3 per account — usually 3 to 9 documents in total
- Transactions
- 150 at 50 a month, 600 at 200 a month
- Reconciliations
- One per account per month: the ending balance your bank printed, matched
- Reports it produces
- Three monthly P&Ls, a quarter-to-date P&L, a balance sheet, a cash flow statement
- By hand
- A weekend if the statements are clean CSVs, considerably longer if they are scanned PDFs
At 200 transactions a month, 3 months is roughly 600 lines to read, categorize and reconcile.
03 / What it is costing you
What three months behind puts at risk.
Nothing has broken yet. What is at risk is the estimate you are about to pay, and the drift.
Quarterly estimated tax
Federal estimates fall due April 15, June 15, September 15 and January 15. Without a closed quarter the payment is a guess in both directions — overpaying is a loan to the IRS, underpaying carries an underpayment penalty.
Sales tax
If you collect it, the return is monthly or quarterly and it is filed against numbers you should have closed. Collected sales tax is a liability, not revenue, and a quarter of mixed deposits hides that.
The drift
Three months becomes eight the same way it became three. Every month you wait moves you toward a band where firms quote thousands rather than hundreds.
Titan is not an accounting firm and does not give tax advice. The dates above are the ordinary federal calendar; your own filing obligations depend on your entity and your state, and a licensed CPA or preparer should review and sign the return.
04 / Titan's price
Public, fixed, and payable on this page.
Three months behind is covered by Catch-Up 6 at $499. Nothing is quoted, and the only thing that can move it is volume above 500 transactions a month, which is a published tier named before you pay.
At this distance a bookkeeper can genuinely be cheaper than our smallest package, and we would rather say so than hide it. What you get here is hours instead of weeks, no call, and a month of your own books closed free before you decide.
Close one month free before you buy anything. Drop one statement and read the closed month, tied out to the ending balance your bank printed.

06 / Questions
What owners at three months behind ask.
- Is a bookkeeper cheaper than Titan at three months behind?
- Often, yes. The going rate for one to three months of cleanup is $300 to $500, and Titan's smallest package is $499 for up to 6 months. We publish both numbers rather than pretend otherwise. Titan wins on speed — hours instead of three to eight weeks — on there being no call and no quote, and on your first month being closed free so you see the work before you pay. If the price is the only thing that matters at this distance, hire the bookkeeper.
- Can I just close the three months myself?
- Yes, and for three clean CSV statements that is a reasonable weekend. The part people underestimate is the tie-out: getting each month's ending balance to match the figure the bank printed, which is what makes the books defensible rather than merely categorized. Our page on reconstructing books from bank statements gives the eight steps if you want to do it by hand.
- What if I am behind on more accounts than one?
- One checking account is one reconciliation a month. A card, a savings account and a PayPal balance make four. A firm's quote climbs 20 to 40% with each additional account; Titan reads every account you send at the same table price.
- Do you file the return once the books are closed?
- No, never. Titan produces the closed books, the statements and a preparer-importable export. A licensed CPA or tax preparer should review and sign your return. We do not file, we do not advise on tax, and we do not touch your bank.
